骨外科是市级重点专科，科室医务人员梯队合理技术精湛，现有医务人员23人，其中主任医师3人，副主任医师2人，主治医师3人，住院医师2人，其中高年资硕士研究生3人，病区独立，布局合理。
科室现有国内先进的诊断和治疗设备，如德国西门子公司“C”形臂X线光机一台，美国史赛克公司关节镜一套，高级显微镜一台，床边拍片机一台，红外线手术切口治疗仪一台，CPM机一台。
一外科广泛开展脊柱外科、手外科、骨与关节外科、神经血管显微外科，科室开展的具有特色的手术包块，人工髋、膝、肩关节置换，颈椎病的前后路减压治疗，颈、胸、腰椎的骨折、脱位。肿瘤、结核的前后路手术治疗；胸腰椎退行性疾病的手术治疗（包括椎间盘突出症，脊柱侧弯、滑脱、不稳等）。膝关节的显微手术；复杂的四肢、骨盆、髋臼的骨折治疗。
一外科积极开展新业务新技术，近两年开展的多项手术，填补了市空白，达省级先进水平，近年来，科室在各级学术专刊上发表论文40余篇，有五项科研成果经专家鉴定达国内领先水平。其中四项获孝感市科技进步奖。
